Washington DC – Representative Derek Kilmer released the following statement on the postponement of the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility career fair:
“The most recent episode of budget uncertainty at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard is a prime example of what’s wrong with Congress. Even though we have the work and the workers, the shipyard career fair had to be postponed because Congress won’t do its job.
“This is a no-brainer – Puget Sound Naval Shipyard needs to be able to actively recruit and hire workers. Our local economy needs it and our national security depends on it.
“I’ll continue to fight as hard as I can to ensure we pass an appropriations bill and bring economic certainty to the vital employers in our region and defenders of our nation. The country is depending on it.”
