This year, locally the emphasis is dedicated to the memory of fallen Hoquiam Officer Donald Burke. Burke was killed in the line of duty in 1980. “Even after all these years, it has been a solemn testament that recent events continue to honor the memory of Officer Donald Burke. We are very appreciative of the donation of body armor by Reed Composite Solutions and naming this year’s Target Zero patrols in his memory. It demonstrates how an officer giving his life in the service of others, through the course of doing his job, has such a profound impact on a department, city and community.” Chief Jeff Myers, Hoquiam Police Department
