Homeowner Chases Down Residential Burglar Interupted

ELMA, Wash. – An Elma woman interruputed a residential burglary yesterday morning, then chased down one suspect who had a bag full of stolen property. The Grays Harbor County Sheriffs department reports yesterday (12/3/2012) at about 11:40 am, deputies were called to the report of a burglary in progress in the 900 block of the Monte-Elma Road, in Elma. A resident had arrived home to find an unknown black colored 4 door sedan parked in front of their pole barn. Chief Criminal Deputy Steve Shumate tells us the victim also noticed their welder sitting next to the unknown vehicle. A male suspect exited the barn and jumped into the back seat of the car as the vehicle fled the residence, another female fled on foot toward Oakridge golf course with a bag that appeared to be full of items.
Shumate said the victim noted that the driver of the vehicle was a white female, called 911, and then proceeded to follow the female suspect. The bag was dropped during the chase, however the suspect continued to flee the area. The homeowner stated that the bag contained numerous items that had been stolen from her residence. 
Deputies responded to the scene and were assisted by an officer from Elma PD. The female suspect was eventually located near the old club house of Oakridge Golf Course and arrested. The female suspect was a 27 year old Aberdeen resident. She was transported to the Grays Harbor County Jail and booked. Investigators are continuing to follow-up on identifying the suspects who fled in the black colored sedan.
