Aberdeen Couple Did Not Back Down to Armed Robber
On September 18th, 2012 at about 2:26 am Aberdeen Police Officers responded to a report of a male subject with a gun who had entered a home in the 1500 Block of Cherry St. While inside the suspect had reportedly attempted to take the purse of one of the occupants.
Upon the arrival of the officers, it was determined that an unknown male subject (who was wearing a t-shirt pulled over his face) entered a bedroom of the residence with what appeared to be a long barreled pistol or rifle in his hand. Once inside he made contact with a female occupant (a 42 year old Aberdeen resident) and demanded she give him her money. The suspect next grabbed onto her purse and started to leave the bedroom. At this point, the female victim began wrestling with the suspect, eventually obtaining her purse back from him. The suspect then began to run from the residence while the victim yelled for the help of other family members inside the home.
As the suspect fled the residence, he made contact with a family member of the victim(a 55 year old Aberdeen resident) who was outside. This family member had heard the commotion inside and was heading towards the house to help. As the suspect and he made contact, the suspect pointed the gun at him, demanding his wallet. The wallet was not given to the suspect and at this point the suspect jumped a fence and disappeared.
A search for the suspect in the area was attempted with the use of the Aberdeen Police Department K-9 Team and responding patrol officers. This search yielded no results.
The suspect is described as a white male, about 20 years of age, 5-11 with a thin build. He was further described as having collar length hair and was wearing dark clothing with a hat and scarf.
