Montesano Passes on Medical Marijuana Moratorium

Montesano – The city of Montesano last night failed to pass a 6 month “joint” moratorium on medical marijuana dispensaries and collective gardens, as one of the four “no” votes on the seven member council, Ken Walkington said “I don’t see the need for a moratorium, but we should be proactive. The citizens elect us to make decisions, we should be prepared to make the decision.
City attorney Dan Glenn said without a moratorium on the business types, anyone could open one in the proper district, councilman Doug Streeter broadened the implications “Do we have anything that bans strip clubs, or topless bars?” Police Chief Brett Vance answered no, adding that he has been contacted about dispensaries in the past, but that nothing has come to fruition.
