Grays Harbor Drivers Clicked It, Avoided Tickets
MONTESANO, Wash. – Grays Harbor County law enforcement agencies combined efforts with Clallum, Mason, Kitsap, and Pacific Counties to make our Memorial Day weekend a safe one.
Grays Harbor County had ZERO fatalities during the three day Memorial Day weekend. Officers were hard pressed to find motorists or their passengers who were not properly restrained. During the additional patrols, 308 extra contacts were made, 131 citations were issued and 7 criminal citations. Of these citations: 37 seat belt, 9 cell phone, and 55 for speeding.
With this year being the 10th anniversary of the seat belt law in Washington State extra patrols were conducted. These patrols were funded by a federal grant from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and distributed by the Washington Traffic Safety Commission. Locally, the patrols were coordinated by Grays Harbor County Target Zero Task Force. Participating agencies included Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Department, Aberdeen, Hoquiam, and Montesano Police Departments as well as the Washington State Patrol.
