OCEAN SHORES, Wash. – Something is washing up on Washington’s beaches, but Grays Harbor County Sheriff Mike Wheelan says it’s not tsunami debris “Grays Harbor County Emergency Management started getting reports of things washing up on the beach. It didn’t take long for everybody to extrapolate that this is stuff from the Japanese Tsunami, it doesn’t appear that it is.”
The reality is, there is stuff washing up on the beach, it’s kind of long and black, right now we have no idea what it is, it appears it came off of a ship. – County Sheriff Mike Wheelan
Wheelan said the state department of Ecology has responded, and is investigating the source of the debris. Beachcombers are advised not to handle debris that they do not recognize.
