Teacher Charged in District Court
HOQUIAM, Wash. – An accused 41 year old Hoquiam School teacher remains in the Grays Harbor County Jail tonight after District Court charges were filed against him today for Communicating with a Minor for Immoral Purposes, and Voyeurism. Court documents state Wesley A Phillips knew the recipient of his communication was a minor.
Hoquiam School Superintendent Mike Parker tells us “the teacher was placed on administrative leave with pay, and the District is acting in cooperation with the Police Department on this investigation.”
The High School Chemistry teacher was arrested yesterday morning for investigation of communicating with a minor for immoral purposes, a felony in Washington state.
Police Chief Jeff Myers said tonight “This is a complex and very sensitive investigation. We will continue to follow up on any new information.” Myers tells KBKW The computers will be submitted to the crime lab tomorrow, “This is a small community and this case has been difficult for everyone involved. We are working with the school district and prosecutor’s office.”
