Community Hospital Pharmacy Wins National Award

ABERDEEN, Wash. – Community Hospital’s Pharmacy has earned a national award, Director of Public Relations David Quigg tells us Grays Harbor beat 14 other hospitals across Washington, Oregon, Montana, Wyoming, and Northern California to win the coveted “best practices” award. Quigg tells us Grays Harbor Community Hospital was presented the award at the December American Society of Health System Pharmacists meeting by Comprehensive Pharmacy Services.

Comprehensive Pharmacy Services is the nation’s leading pharmacy services provider to acute care and specialty hospitals. The award is given to a pharmacy in the North West Region, who after an audit of the pharmacy, and it’s entire practices within a hospital, scores above 95%. “A score of 95% is more than compliment, it means the pharmacy is setting best practices in the industry” says Director of Pharmacy Tom Kloepping .

When asked about the award Tom Kloepping remarked, This has been a team effort, we have worked hard as a group and it is an honor to be recognized. We have been implementing continuous improvements and working with the hospital staff to ensure safety and the highest quality for our patients.

Quigg said the pharmacy at Grays Harbor Community Hospital is not an outpatient pharmacy, their role is to support the over 6,300 inpatients that stay at Grays Harbor Community Hospital on an annual basis.
