Grays Harbor Transit Driver Training Could Save Lives

HOQUIAM, Wash. – Grays Harbor Transit bus drivers may soon be CPR and First Aid trained, Transit Authority Board Member, and Aberdeen Mayor Bill Simpson said the board learned last week that the training is not required “I was thinking, if you’re on the bus going to Quinault and you have a heart attack, that’s a long way for an ambulance to get to you.”
General Manager Mark Carlin said at last week’s board meeting, after offered free training “We have someone on staff  that’s trained to do that and they’re starting that process now.” Carlin said while the drivers are not required to be certified in CPR or First Aid, voluntary training should start early next year.
