Fifth City Adopts Anti-County Resolution This Week

Bookmark and Share
MONTESANO, Wash. – The Aberdeen City Council adopted a resolution apposing the county’s levy shift, joining 4 other cities that have decried the process of transferring taxing authority from the road fund to the general fund.
A motion to table the issue lit the fuse last night Council Kathy Hoder said “I asked the three commissioners if they would give another week for this issue, so they could at least contact our honorable mayor, and we got some mumbo-jumbo on how they tried and couldn’t.” Councilman Paul Fritts agreed “It’s mind numbing how much we have not heard from this current set of county commissioners. We have a former mayor of Aberdeen sitting there right now, who apparently doesn’t know where Aberdeen is because he can’t seem to make the meetings. Though I specifically remember a promise from Mike Wilson to try to show up at least once a month.”
Aberdeen joins Elma, Cosmopolis, Hoquiam, and Montesano, all passed resolutions in the week that followed the December 5th levy shift vote at the County Commissioners meeting.
