Hoquiam Opposes Levy Shift
Hoquiam, WA – The Hoquiam City Council this week joined a growing number of city’s passing resolutions in opposition of the county’s levy shifts. Mayor Jack Durney was also critical of the commissioners communication skills. “We understand they’ve got problems, and we all have problems, but it wasn’t anything that’s been discussed with us before. It seems like every time they have a meeting there’s something else that they’ve discovered and this was another option to generate some additional revenue.”
Elma and Cosmopolis Councils have also adopted resolutions opposing the levy shift that would shift the taxation of $750-thousand for the road fund (paid into by rural residents) to the general fund, paid into by all residents.
