OLYMPIA, Wash. – An intermittent road closure has been implemented on Forest Service Road 30 in the Olympic National Forest. Ranger Dean Millett tells us this closure is necessary to ensure public safety during timber harvest operations for the Yoda Who timber sale. Specifically, the closure will occur from milepost 2-3.5 and 6-10.
The road is narrow with limited turn around areas, and there will not be sufficient room for safe public access once the timber purchaser installs the loader, log decks, yarder, and skyline cables in the road prism. While closures are possible between now and the current timber sale termination date of October 31, 2016, this closure is expected to last until January 15, 2012.
