Hoquiam Police Say More Information Was Needed For Investigation

HOQUIAM, Wash. – Police Chief Jeff Myers says, in hindsight, his men could have asked other questions, had they known more about an Aberdeen man who reportedly assaulted an elderly Humptulips couple. Court records allege that the man told friends that he had killed two demons and stolen their truck. Hoquiam officers transported 31 year old John Frances Chase to Community Hospital for a mental evaluation. Chase then spent the night in the Crisis Center. Chase was arrested Saturday when that truck was traced back to an elderly couple left for dead at their home in Humptulips. Meyers said yesterday that Chase was behaving erratically Friday night when officers were called, and that no mention was made Friday night about killing demons or stealing trucks. Hoquiam has forwarded their reports to investigators at the Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Department as part of the ongoing homicide investigation.
