Chehalis Basin Partnership Seeks Paying Partners
MONTESANO, Wash. – The Chehalis Basin Watershed Partnership needs partners “Looking ahead, our funding from the Department of Ecology ran out this last June.” Janel Spaulding, Watershed Coordinator said last night the partnership has received state funding from the Watershed planning act since 1998, the partnership is hoping to continue running on a $100,000 annual budget “half of that, $50,000, we’re requesting from members of the Partnership, the other half we’re going to make a request to the legislature for funding.”
Spaulding said the Confederated Tribes of the Chehalis have already pledged a $15,000 donation toward that 50, and the group is hoping to raise $35-thousand from remaining partners. The Montesano City Council last night took no action, but said they plan to review the proposal as they continue budget workshops. We’ll likely hear more from Janel and Lee Napier in the coming months as the group seeks funding from it’s partners.
