Business Owners Say No to HWY12, SR101 Move
ABERDEEN, Wash. – Public Opinion seemed to be a resounding “no” at a meeting of the Aberdeen Planning Commission to discuss a possible move of Highway 12 and State Route 101 to market street. Councilwoman Kathy Hoder told the board “I absolutely do not like this idea.”
Public works Director Larry Bledsoe was tasked with designing the change, and admitted that with the State’s budget woes, and an estimate of 10 to 15 million dollar cost “it’s not gonna happen in the next few years.”
The idea came from a Pheonix of the Aberdeen Revitilation Movement, called Our Aberdeen, Mike Dickerson a representative of the group said he has seen similar changes in other cities open up downtown districts and improve commerce.
