State Emergency Management begins flood damage assessment process

“The assessment will try to determine the extent of uninsured losses from the storms and flooding so EMD can recommend to Gov. Chris Gregoire what additional aid could be sought for storm and flood survivors,” said Jim Mullen, EMD Director. “We plan to complete the assessment as quickly as possible in order to make a recommendation to the governor.”
Heavy rainfall between Dec, 11 and 13 caused rivers across Western Washington to crest at or above flood stage. In some counties, rivers are continuing to rise. Several county emergency operations centers remain activated. Snohomish, Pierce and Skagit counties have proclaimed emergencies.
