All Hazards Weather Radio Training and Giveaway for the South Beach Area Today

WESTPORT, Wash. – The City of Westport in association with the Washington State Emergency Management Division, Earthquake/Tsunami/Volcano Program, NOAA, Grays Harbor Amateur Radio Group and Grays Harbor County Emergency Management are pleased to announce an All Hazards Weather Radio Program for the entire South Beach Community, (Westport, Ocosta, Rural Westport, Grayland and Bay City).

The event will be held on Wednesday December 08, 2010 from 6:00pm – 8:30 pm, in the Lens Building, across from McCausland Hall at the Westport Maritime Museum. There will be FREE All Hazard Weather Radios available for attendees. The program consists of short presentations by Ted Buehner from the National Weather Service and Brynne Walker from the Earthquake/Tsunami/Volcano Program. The event also provides an opportunity have your All Hazard Weather Radio programmed to the proper frequency for alert notifications and to sign up for the Grays Harbor Notification System which will supply emergency notifications via text, e-mail and a phone call prior to and during severe weather and disaster events.

There will also be an abundance of Emergency Preparation Information available to the public. The event is FREE and open to all.
