No injuries at Hoquiam house fire that closes Aberdeen Avenue Tuesday
No injuries reported from a house fire on Aberdeen Avenue in Hoquiam yesterday. Fire Chief Paul Dean said from the scene “Resident smelled smoke in the back portion of the house and self evacuated. Undetermined cause at this point. Only thing going on at the time is they were washing clothes – which is in the back of the home, but everybody’s safe and the fire is under control.”
The stubborn, and smokey fire, reported around 10:20 Tuesday morning hid in a false ceiling and the knee-walls of the attic space. It was knocked down and crews cleared the scene by 1:30. Dean said the fire seemed to start in the back of the home, the cause is under investigation.
The Hoquiam Fire Department had the 2800 block of Aberdeen Avenue blocked off for about 3 hours to protect their hoses run to the next block.
