Grain train derails North of Friends Landing in Montesano

Train derailment near Aberdeen, WA

The third train derailment in three weeks occurred in Grays Harbor County Thursday afternoon in West Montesano.
It happened just after 4 p.m. at the Devonshire Road crossing near Central Park drive, leaving 7 grain cars off the tracks North of Friends Landing. No intersections were blocked, crews from Genesee & Wyoming were on scene early Thursday to assess the damage. They were in town already, having just reopened the tracks near the Wal-Mart intersection of the Gateway Plaza in East Aberdeen after a train derailed last Friday. A grain train derailed South of State street in the early morning hours of April 29th as well.
