Burglary suspect identified when mom reports him missing

Four Montesano teens were arrested in connection with a burglary at the Brady Food Mart early Tuesday morning, after one parent filed a missing persons report that matched the description of their suspect. Chief Criminal Deputy Steve Shumate with the Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Office reports on Tuesday April 15th at about 4:07 am, deputies were dispatched to the Brady Food Mart in Brady (Montesano) reference a burglary which occurred sometime during the night. The building does have video surveillance and investigators learned that two unknown males in their late teens to early 20’s broke the front window to gain access to the business at approximately 12:47 am. The subjects stole a number of items before fleeing the scene. The video was able to give investigators detailed information on the subjects clothing and general description. Later this morning at approximately 6:24 am, Montesano PD responded to a runaway complaint reference the parent’s teenage son that had not returned home from the night prior. When clothing information was given for the runaway, it was similar to one of the suspects of the Food Mart burglary.

Deputies responded with Montesano PD to the complaint and learned of three additional male subjects that the runaway had been with. Montesano PD and deputies continued to look for the subjects throughout the day. None of the subjects had attended school that day however.

Yesterday afternoon at approximately 5:21 pm, a concerned citizen called to report 4 juvenile males walking in the 100 block of Monte Brady Road (Montesano). A detective with the Sheriff’s department along with an officer with Montesano PD contacted the 4 subjects and eventually determined that they were involved with the Brady Food Mart burglary. All 4 subjects were arrested and interviewed. The subjects were then released to their respective parents however reports will be submitted to the prosecutor’s office recommending charges of burglary. Three of the subjects were Montesano students all 15 years of age. The other subject was a 16 year old Aberdeen student.
