Facebook group locates owner of charm bracelet lost years ago in Hoquiam
Darlene’s facebook post read “FOUND—several years ago a charm bracelet with a picture of a little girl and six kids names on it. They are Kenny 11-29-61, Tommy 5-19-64, Cathy 10-13-58,Karen 12-18-64, Jimmy 12-28-61 and Mike 9-17-58. …I did try to find the owner when I first found it in front of my gate on Sumner Avenue in Hoquiam.”
A long lost family heirloom has been recovered thanks to a local facebook group. Hoquiam resident Darlene Beardslee tells us she found the bracelet several years ago in front of her yard on Sumner Avenue. “I picked it up and of course charm bracelets I’ve had those with pictures of my children on them so.” She listed it in the local paper, and called local radio stations at the time but no one stepped forward to claim it. The bracelet was intriguing, with a small photo of a little girl on one charm, and 6 other charms that featured a first name and birth date.
Darlene said she saw someone else post a bracelet on the facebook group of about 9,000 called Grays Harbor Swap and Shop
, and said “So I thought well, why not.”
After some sleuthing from group members, those names began to find matching last names and it turned out that one of the men named on the bracelet frequents the Grays Harbor YMCA with Darlene’s husband. Darlene said her husband returned the bracelet this morning.
