Police seek hit and run suspect after skateboarder struck in Aberdeen
The Aberdeen Police department is searching for a hit and run suspect after a man was struck while skateboarding on Wishkah street Friday afternoon. Captain John Green tells us at about 6:20 P.M. they were called to the 900 Block of West Wishkah Street on the report of a vehicle vs. skateboarder collision. The responding officer found a 17 year old male on the ground who was conscious and alert. Aberdeen Fire Department crews were called to the scene as the man complained of leg pain due to being struck by a car.
Investigating officers were told that the victim was riding a skateboard down the street when a car driving on the road struck the victim, knocking him to the ground. According to witnesses the victim may have been in the road when struck.
Officers were told that the driver of the striking vehicle returned to the scene and allegedly made a statement about not seeing the victim. The officers were told that that the man then fled the location before they arrived. The vehicle was described as a silver or gray Ford Mustang, boxy back end, with a headlight out.
The suspect was described as a male subject with a scruffy beard, wearing a baseball style hat at the time. Green said the victim was treated at Grays Harbor Community Hospital for abrasions and contusions.
