Aberdeen council appoints Alan Richrod to fill Ward 5 seat

ABERDEEN, Wash. – The Aberdeen city council last night appointed Alan Richrod to take the Ward 5 position most recently held by Alan Richrod – he was appointed to the seat after John Erak passed away, then lost to Erak in the November election. Ward resident Bill Simpson had also expressed interest in the appointment, Councilwoman Kathy Hoder said before the vote “I have to be able to know that what I did was right, and that everything I do – to the best of my ability, passed what I call the smell test.
Bill Simpson, son of Aberdeen Mayor Bill Simpson, expressed interest in the position earlier this month but a vote was tabled because not all councilmembers were present.
Hoder, and 5 other councilmembers voted with 44% of the 5th ward that chose Richrod in November. Richrod was sworn in after a 6-4 vote last night with councilman Jeff Cook absent.
