The Grays Harbor Community Foundation is looking for a Project Director to take the lead in their efforts to give every child in Grays Harbor a “Great Beginning.”
A press release from the foundation earlier this month said “Last year, the Foundation decided to make a big investment in the future of Grays Harbor – our children. With a grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation as well as a significant investment of their own funds, we sought out community partnerships with our local Health Department, YMCA, school districts, the Early Learning Coalition, Grays Harbor College and others to hear what the community thought was the biggest need facing our youngest residents.”
The foundation said they discovered that access to quality preschool programs in our area was a common theme amongst all partners. Whether it is lack of space, workforce development, community outreach to inform families what is available, etc., they want to help identify where the gaps are and how we can ultimately prepare all children in Grays Harbor for kindergarten through quality pre-k programs.
To advance their commitment to Early Learning, they have identified a need to hire a director to lead this effort. The Great Beginnings Project Director position will be a contractor through the Grays Harbor Public Health and Social Services Department and will be led by a Steering Committee of individuals from Public Health, Aberdeen School District, YMCA of Grays Harbor, Grays Harbor Community Foundation and the Early Learning Coalition.
