By Andrea Dresdale

ABC/Lou RoccoFor more than two decades, Elton John and his good friend, tennis icon Billie Jean King, have been co-hosting Smash Hits, a charity tennis event that raises money for his AIDS foundation. But this year, the event will take place outside the U.S. for the first time.

The 2014 edition of Smash Hits is scheduled for December 7 in London, England, at that city’s famed Royal Albert Hall. So far, players who’ve confirmed their participation include tennis legend John McEnroe, Kim Clijsters, Tim Henman and Sabine Lisicki. This will be the 22nd installment of World Team Tennis Smash Hits. Last year’s edition in Orlando, Florida, raised more than $700,000 for Elton’s foundation and local AIDS charities.

During the event, Elton and King, who’ve been friends for years, each captain a team. Over the years, Elton’s team has won 11 matches to Billie Jean’s 10.
