Adam Levine Sings About Taking Friendship to the Next Level in New Maroon 5 Single

By Shane Lou

222 Records/ Interscope RecordsMaroon 5‘s latest song sounds like it could be an ode to Adam Levine‘s new wife, Behati Prinsloo.

It Was Always You,” the second single off the band’s new album V, tells the story of a man who comes to realize that the love of his life has been staring him in the face the entire time. Adam sings of a woman with “hazel eyes,” and states in the chorus, “It was always you/Can’t believe I couldn’t see it all this time/All this time/It was always you.”

You can purchase the dance-pop track — the follow-up to the current Maroon 5 hit “Maps” — now from various online retailers. V will be released September 2.
