Why Michael Buble Unplugs Every Night on Tour

RecordsAfter a string of dates in his native Canada, Michael Buble‘s back in the U.S. for more shows, including two he played this week at New York’s famed Madison Square Garden. Michael’s current show has plenty of bells and whistles, including huge video screens and tons of backup musicians, but he always ends the show with a tune he sings a cappella and “unplugged.” He says it’s a tradition that he started more than a decade ago…thanks to an onstage disaster.

As Michael tells it, about 12 years ago, he was performing for a few hundred people at a small place in Hollywood when suddenly, the soundboard shorted out and he lost all power to his microphone while crooning “My Funny Valentine.” But instead of panicking, he turned it into an opportunity.
