Cher, Elton John, Lady Gaga to Be Honored by World's Largest Gay Dance Music Festival

By Andrea Dresdale

Cher.com/ABC/Randy Holmes/Interscope RecordsCher, Lady Gaga and Elton John are among the biggest gay icons in the world, so it’s not surprising that all three artists are being honored this year at the world’s biggest gay dance music festival, White Party Palm Springs.

The festival is marking its 25th anniversary this year by presenting special ICON Awards to those whose achievements “embody” its “spirit,” USA Today reports. Cher and Gaga are being recognized for being “pioneers” for the LGBT community, as well as for their artistry, activism and charity work. Elton and his partner David Furnish are being recognized for their activism as well as their philanthropy.

Other honorees include Bravo’s Andy Cohen, reality star Lisa Vanderpump, comedienne Kathy Griffin, director Bryan Singer, Lance Bass and Carmen Electra.

It’s not clear which, if any, of these stars will attend this year’s White Party Palm Springs, which takes place April 25-28. The awards will be given out April 26. Visit the event’s Facebook page for more details.
