Madonna.comNow that Madonna‘s hometown of Bay City, Michigan has agreed to erect a sign in her honor, a statue of the Queen of Pop could be next.
According to MLive.com, a total of $650 in private funds so far has been raised to erect the green-and-white sign announcing Bay City as the birthplace of the superstar singer. It’ll welcome visitors who are traveling on U.S. Route 10. But since the goal of the sign is to “get people into town,” as the commissioner spearheading the plan explained, he wants to have something for them to see when they arrive. That’s where the statue idea comes in.
“When people go to Wall Street in New York, what do they do? They get their picture with the big bull,” Bay City Commissioner Christopher Girard told MLive.com. “We need something in town that people want to come and see and take their picture in front of.”
