Embezzlement Charges Filed Against Harbor Medical Group Employee

An attorney for Harbor Medical Group is filing charges accusing a former employee of embezzling money after a recent audit. The employee resigned shortly after being placed on administrative leave over the incident.

Nancee M. Long, Director of Marketing & Public Relations for Grays Harbor Community Hospital said that after a forensic audit by Aiken & Sanders, Inc., paperwork was filed with the Grays Harbor County Prosecutor indicating that an embezzlement had occurred. Officials at the hospital are not saying how much they believe was taken.

The employee in question was immediately placed on administrative leave and resigned shortly after HMG discovered the alleged crime. Long added, “Our attorney will be working closely with authorities to ensure that appropriate charges are filed.”

The company said in a statement on Thursday “As a result of these findings, HMG will be strengthening processes to enhance accountability and internal controls to mitigate risk.”
