BAY CITY, Wash. – Man-powered boat racing is coming to Bay City on the Westport Highway When the Elk River Challenge takes place July 27th. The start and finish line is at Brady’s Oysters off of State Route 105
Entry fees are $10 for non-Sound Rowers Open Water Rowing and Paddling Club members.

Event coordinators said participants can race on Saturday, then stick around for a non-competitive row or paddle from Westport (Brady’s Oysters) to Ocean Shores and back Sunday; approximately 12 miles.

From the Elk River Bridge into the estuary, and return. Start and finish at Brady’s Oyster Co. at the west end of the Elk River Bridge.
Becasue of frequent course changes over the years, there is no course record to compare year to year.
Members of Sound Rowers: FREE!
Nonmembers: $10 per person.
Ribbons awarded for 1st-3rd by category.

Special this year. If you need another excuse to visit Westport, you can make a full weekend of paddling/rowing fun! Race on Saturday, then stick around for a non-competitive row or paddle from Westport (Brady’s Oysters) to Ocean Shores and back; approximately 12 miles. This will be a non-sponsored crossing for experienced participants only. Start around 8:30 a.m. Bring your own munchies for a quick lunch or snack before heading back to Westport. No fee. Just enjoy the camaraderie of the crossing.
