Two teens have been taken into custody on felony charges after a recent crackdown in South Aberdeen. Lieutenant C.J. Chastain with the Aberdeen Police Department said that over the past weekend they received numerous reports of Malicious Mischief and Burglary. A patrol sergeant working with the Street Crimes Team believed they saw a connection to recent thefts, and went to a home in South Aberdeen attempting to locate one of the suspects Wednesday afternoon.
While surrounding the house, a Dept. of Corrections Officer spotted suspected stolen items through a window. Chastain said an 18-year-old suspect initially provided a false name, but the patrol sergeant recognized him, and he was taken into custody. Officers subsequently recovered suspected stolen property.
On Thursday morning a patrol sergeant and two officers arrested a 17-year-old South Aberdeen resident on charges related to the investigations. Both suspects have been interviewed, Chastain said felony charges will be forwarded to the Grays Harbor County Prosecutor’s Office.
