Aberdeen Man Declared Dead at The Scene of Interstate 5 Accident

An Aberdeen motorcyclist was declared dead at the scene of a traffic accident on Interstate 5 Friday morning. The Pierce County Medical Examiner notified the family of Austin Mullikin later that day.

The Washington State Patrol said that the 22-year-old was following a two-door Mini Cooper too close with his motorcycle on Interstate 5. The two vehicles approached slower traffic near Berkeley street (at milepost 122) around 11:18 am Friday and the 2006 Buell XBR motorcycle collided with the car.

The 45-year-old Olympia woman in the Cooper was not injured. She was wearing a seatbelt and the rider was wearing a helmet when the tragic accident occurred. Both vehicles were damaged, the Cooper was driven from the scene and the bike was impounded.

The state patrol said the Northbound lanes of Interstate 5 in that area were closed for over 4 hours during the investigation.
