Aberdeen boy airlifted to Harborview after skateboard accident

A 14 year old Aberdeen boy was seriously injured yesterday when he wrecked while riding a skateboard on Bosich Boulevard.
Captain Mark Dulin with the Aberdeen Fire Department said the boy was not wearing a helmet.

Aberdeen Police Captain John Green said friends of the victim told investigators that two boys were riding longboards on Basich Boulevard while two others followed in a car.

When his board began to wobble, the boy fell off landing on the roadway. Green said he was breathing but unresponsive when his friends called 911.

He was treated at the scene around 2 yesterday afternoon, transported to Community Hospital, then airlifted to Harborview Medical Center.

Dulin said his department would like to remind those enjoying the pavement to wear a helmet. The city of Aberdeen does require helmet use when riding a bicycle at any age, however not while skateboarding.
