Stolen car leads Aberdeen Police on high speed chase through town

ABERDEEN, Wash. – Police in Aberdeen are looking for a suspect who fled the scene after crashing a stolen car yesterday morning. Police Captain John Green tells us they were called to an alley behind Broadway Manor for a suspicious car. As they tried to contact the driver of a white Mitsubishi Eclipse the car sped off, eventually hitting speeds of 80 mph on First street, and catching air as it crossed Park Street around 2 Thursday morning.
Green said the car was found abandoned on Division street, with visible damage from striking a fence and stop sign post. The driver’s door was open and the car was smoking from the engine compartment.

Witnesses in the area pointed in the direction the suspect fled on foot. A K-9 unit from the Grays Harbor Sheriffs Office assisted by conducted a track in an attempt to locate the suspect driver.

Dispatch contacted the registered owner of the car at which time it was reported stolen.
