City of Hoquiam earns clean annual audit from State Auditor’s Office

HOQUIAM, Wash. – The city of Hoquiam just got good news from the State Auditor’s Office, “We received a clean audit this year.” Finance Director Mike Folkers explained on Friday that getting a “clean audit” from the state is a little like hitting a moving target; “It’s not easy every year, but we try to keep on top of it, and for a small city we do pretty good.”
The city was issued a finding in each of the past two years’ Financial and Single audits, last year to improve internal controls to ensure accurate reporting, and in 2011 for a similar issue regarding their tracking of federal grant funds.
