Also this summer, all freshmen and seniors at Aberdeen High School will return to school for three days Aug. 26-28 prior to the official start of school on Wednesday, September 4. Freshmen will receive orientation to the high school, training on technology used in the school and information on what is required over the next four years in order to graduate. Seniors will work on their portfolios and finalize with their teachers and counselors a plan for a successful senior year.
A number of students have registered to re-take the High School Proficiency Exam in reading and writing on August 13-15. In order to help students prepare, the District is offering a HSPE Preparation Class on August 6-12. Students can work with teachers to polish the reading and writing skills they need for the test. The deadline to register is August 1 through the Teaching and Learning Department at 538-2123.
Aberdeen High School and Harbor High School are also offering math Collection of Evidence support on August 6-15. A Collection of Evidence is another option for students to meet the state math requirement. If students are nervous about passing the state math test, which is required for graduation, they can attend this summer session to begin working on the Collection of Evidence option to meet the state requirement. Contact the high school office to learn more: Aberdeen High School at 538-2040 and Harbor High School at 538-2180.
