Aberdeen Park Thefts: Bathroom Fixtures and Plants Are Not Safe

ABERDEEN, Wash. – Theft is up in Aberdeen parks, Parks Director Karl Harris told the council this week “It seems like it’s that time of year again where we are starting to get a rash of thefts in the parks. Last weekend we were hit out at the Bishop Athletic Complex – no it wasn’t field lighting this time, but they are stealing bathroom fixtures now.” Harris said it’s not just metal thieves either. Apparently when they can’t steal the city planters, they’re stealing the plants. “Within the last two weeks, we put up 23 hanging flower baskets in the downtown corridor, we’ve had 3 or 4 stolen, in addition to people stealing individual plants and flowers out of the baskets.”
Harris told city council to watch for people with extra bathroom fixtures, or plants, in the city’s parks, and as usual if you spot suspicious activity call the Aberdeen police tip line at 533-3180
