Ocean Shores Newborn Death Ruled Homicide, Two in Custody

OCEAN SHORES, Wash. – The Grays Harbor Coroner says a newborn girl who’s body was found in a wooded area in Ocean Shores on Friday died as a result of skull fractures and brain injuries due to blunt force injury to the head. The 21 year old couple that were interviewed Saturday are being held with no bail in the Grays Harbor County Jail on assault charges. The death is being investigated as a homicide. 

Hoquiam Police Chief Jeff Myers tells us as a result of citizen tips, investigators developed a possible identification of the birth mother Saturday, at the nearby Oasis Motel, where it’s believed the baby was born. Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s as well as Aberdeen and Hoquiam detectives are aiding in the investigation.

Myers said the body was discovered Friday evening when a woman walking her dog in the 200 block of Fisher Avenue NE, noticed a rag hanging on a branch.
