Our traditional Pancake Breakfast opens the festival at 7 a.m. Craft vendors open at 9:00 a.m. and food vendors open no later than 10:30. Admission to the festival is $3.00 per person/per day or $5.00 for a two day pass with children 12 years old and under admitted free of charge. The People’s Choice award for the “Best Clam Chowder on the Washington Coast” will be determined by your vote. You can purchase a ballot which allows you to taste all of the professional clam chowders and vote for your favorite.
Throughout the weekend, there will be a variety of events for your entertainment. Professional and amateur (adult and junior) cook-offs will be judged by a variety of professionals from around the northwest.
The “Creative Clam Entrée” competition is always a spectacular event where chefs truly show off their culinary talents. This year a second competition on Sunday will include the “Creative Seafood Entrée.” While the public won’t get an opportunity to taste these gourmet delights at the festival, the professional chefs’ might just add them to their restaurant menus.
The winners of the professional clam chowder cook-off will have bragging rights for a whole year in Ocean Shores and the North Coast. You’ll be able to taste these chowders at the festival and at their restaurants.
Other activities will include awarding the “Best Decorated Clam Shovel;” a salute to the businesses of Ocean Shores; the Artisan Craft Marketplace featuring over 40 Northwest artists and crafters with unique and indigenous works; children’s activities and games; entertainment; information about coastal heritage, conservation and cultural exhibits; cooking demonstrations, two adult beverage bars; and great food.
Kids and family activities include our fun-loving pirates, a pirate ship, pony rides, face painting and the “Magic Hand.” If weather permits, we will also have the Big Purple Slide for kids and adults alike. Musicians will entertain with live music on stage on Saturday and our magician will provide two stage shows—one in the morning and one in the afternoon. We have pony rides, chain saw carved artwork, scroll saw artwork, a great yard art vendor, along with barbeque and Cajun food vendors, and more outside.
We thank our Presenting Sponsors, Jodesha Broadcasting and the Quinault Beach Resort and Casino for their strong support in making this event so successful each year. Many businesses throughout the community have sponsored events this year and will be a strong presence at this year’s festival.
