Vehicle Theft Complaints On The Rise in East County

SATSOP, Wash. – The Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Department is warning of an increase in vehicle thefts around East County.
Last Friday deputies investigated a vehicle theft in the 1100 block of Monte Elma Road near Elma. The vehicle, a dark blue Mazda pickup, had been stolen sometime overnight, Shumate said it appeared that the vehicle was pushed out of the driveway and then driven or towed away.
Yesterday morning, deputies responded to two different Satsop homes regarding one theft, and one attempted vehicle theft. In the 500 block of Market, someone attempted to steal a 1985 Chevrolet Blazer. The suspects had punched the ignition and then towed the vehicle out of the driveway however they were not able to unlock the steering wheel and left the vehicle in the roadway. Shortly thereafter, Shumate said a gray colored Chevrolet pickup was stolen from the 300 block of 4th Street.
