Cosmopolis to Hold Public Hearing Wednesday on 9% Utility Rate Increase

COSMOPOLIS, Wash. – The city of Cosmopolis will hold a public hearing tonight to ask their ratepayers for an emergency increase of 9% to water and sewer rates. Mayor Vickie Raines said an EMS Levy expires at the end of the year. “This replaces the collection of the EMS levy that you would pay on your property tax.”

Raines said the fee is imposed by the city of Aberdeen to have an ambulance ready at all times for Cosi residents. The council voted to hold a public hearing on the matter tonight at 7, following the regular meeting at 7:30, council has invited the public to their annual holiday open house.
