Mason County Shooting Victim Dies

SHELTON, Wash. – Barbara Michelle Giles, 30, of Shelton, died at St. Peters Hospital in Olympia on Saturday following her shooting during the early morning hours of November 21, 2012.  Sheriff’s Deputies received the shooting call at about 3:38 AM last Wednesday.  This incident occurred at Giles home located on Tyler Lane which is located about 4 miles north of Shelton. 


According to witnesses at the scene Giles answered a knock on the door and when she opened the door she was shot.  Two witnesses inside of the house barricaded themselves in the rear of the house and were not injured.  Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the scene immediately and were told one male suspect fled the area on foot.  The deputies immediately established a perimeter and started a ground search.  The search for the suspects was suspended at about 6:00 AM.  No descriptions are yet available on the male suspect.  The suspect is considered armed and dangerous.

An autopsy is being conducted by the Thurston County Medical Examiner’s Office in Olympia.  No suspects have yet been identified in the murder of Giles.  Investigators continue to follow up on all leads.  Anyone having information concerning the death of Barbara Michelle Giles is asked to contact the Mason County Sheriff’s Office at 360-427-7761.
