Accident Claims North River Graduate

NORTH RIVER, Wash. – A tragic accident Wednesday night claimed the life of North River resident Brandon Oliver. The Grays Harbor county Sheriff’s Office reports Oliver’s Chevy pickup was discovered at 8:30 this morning off of the Lund road, about 1 mile north of Highway 101. Lt. Stowers tells us it appears his truck failed to negotiate a curve and struck an alder tree, partially ejecting the single occupant.
North River graduate Brandon Oliver had just finished his first year in the Diesel Technology program at Grays Harbor College, and had just received his World Class Scholars scholarship. Brandon was also announced as one of nine new ACG scholarships, provided by the Kiewit Corporation, the general contractor for the 520 Bridge Pontoon Project.
Oliver was declared dead at the scene this morning, the Sheriff’s office says they are not ruling out drugs or alcohol in the investigation.
