Roadside inspectors patrolling Washington's highways will be driving home a clear message to commercial truck and bus operators: "Operate safely on Washington's highways or you will be stopped."
"Every year dedicated WSP and local law enforcement officers perform roadside inspections which save countless lives and making Washington's highways among the safest in the nation," said Captain Darrin Grondel, Commercial Vehicle Division Commander. "We see great results because of the cooperation between industry and local, state and federal government agencies. "
CVSA sponsors "ROADCHECK" with participation by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration, Canadian Council of Motor Transport Administrators, Transport Canada, and the Secretariat of Communications and Transportation (Mexico).
"ROADCHECK" is one of a series of activities whereby CVSA-certified inspectors conduct compliance, enforcement and educational initiatives targeted at various elements of motor carrier, vehicle, driver and cargo safety and security.
Since starting Roadcheck 1988, there have been over one-million roadside inspections.
Roadcheck has also provided safety events to educate industry and the general public about the importance of safe commercial vehicle operations and the roadside inspection program. It has also provided opportunity for the distribution of countless pieces of educational literature.
