Hoquiam Invites Residents to National Night Out

Last year, neighborhoods throughout Hoquiam hosted several block parties, some of which included BBQ’s, fun contests and youth activities. Public Officials, Police Officers, CRIME WATCH volunteers and Firefighters from Hoquiam dropped in to visit with neighbors and to talk about important crime prevention and general safety tips.

National Night Out is designed to (1) heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; (2) generate support for, and participation in local anti-crime efforts; (3) strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and (4) send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

If you want to close your street or utilize a City Park for a party during National Night Out, please contact Tracy Wood at the City of Hoquiam Community Services Department at 360-637-6040. Signs and barricades will be made available for this special event at no cost.

If you have any questions regarding this event, call Tracy Wood, Deputy Chief Don Wertanen at 532-0892 x 104 or Chief Jeff Myers at 532-0892 x 105.
