Black Powder Cannon Injures Montesano Man

MONTESANO, Wash. – A black powder cannon sent one to the hospital yesterday. Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Deputy Cork tells us three people were firing the cannon on the A-line behind Montesano when it exploded, injuring one man’s leg around 6 yesterday evening. Cork said the man was transported to the Montesano Fire Department by his friends, then by aid to Community Hospital in Aberdeen. Montesano fireman Rick Watkinson tells us the 45 year old Montesano man was reloading the cannon when it spontaneously discharged, severely injuring his right leg and causing third degree burns to left leg. The man was later airlifted to Harborview Medical Center.
