ABERDEEN, Wash. – For the first time in it’s 25 years, Grays Harbor’s Historical Seaport might actually have a riverfront home for the state’s tall ship, if the state can get the paperwork filed.
The Seaport made an offer to buy 28 acres of the shuttered Weyerhaeuser sawmill property in November of 2010, Executive Director Les Bolton tells us “Weyerhaeuser is ready to sell the property to the Seaport. They are ready to transfer the lease.”
Bolton said the property is immediately adjacent to 2.5 acres of land, that the seaport already leases from the Department of Natural Resources just south of the Chehalis River Bridge. The port would then combine these parcels into it’s Seaport Landing project, a tall ship maintenance facility and regional tourism hub for Grays Harbor County.
