Coast Guard tows disabled sailing vessel

The Coast Guard diverted an HH-65C Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station North Bend to monitor the Kay II during the 47-foot motor lifeboat crew's three and a half hour transit to the scene.

The helicopter crew observed the Kay II take a wave, which caused a radio shortage between the Kay II and the helicopter. The 47-foot motor lifeboat crew arrived on scene at approximately 12:30 p.m. and is towing the Kay II to Charleston Marina.

There were no injuries reported.

On-scene weather conditions were reported as 25-30 knot winds with 10-foot seas and one to two mile visibility.
